SMP is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that consists of applying a specially formulated pigments to the scalp with micro-fine needles to create tiny impressions of hair.
The cosmetic pigments used in the process are available in a variety of colors, allowing the selection of the most suitable option that best complements your natural features.
When precisely and thoughtfully placed, these pigments offset the impact of hair loss and create the appearance of freshly grown hair follicles on the scalp. And while the process usually requires three sessions, customization is used for each individual client.
SMP is affordable and different than hair transplantation is a non-invasive treatment. The results can be particularly useful when more density is needed than hair transplantation’s grafts can provide.

SMP Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What is scalp micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation is a nonsurgical cosmetic treatment for people who are struggling with hair loss. During the process, the hair follicles are replicated on the scalp over a series of sessions to recreate a person’s hairline, camouflage a scar or add density to a thinning area. These hair follicle replications are specially formulated micro-deposits of pigments under the skin that mimic real human hair. This gives the appearance of a natural-looking shaved cut or a thick, full head of hair.
2. Who can get micro scalp micropigmentation?
Most people are eligible for scalp micropigmentation. Typically, it’s a treatment for men with male pattern baldness or receding hairlines, but it can also help women, people with alopecia, or patients who have had failed hair transplants.
3. What’s the difference between micro scalp pigmentation and hair transplantation?
In an FUT or FUE, the two methods used in hair transplantation, they are taking hair from the back of the head and putting it on the top of the head. Micro Scalp pigmentation is non-invasive and replicates hair follicles to recreate a person’s hairline, camouflage a scar or add density to a thinning area.
4. Will SMP treatment work with my skin color and hair color?
Yes. Each SMP procedure is customized to meet everyone’s needs. Matching your skin tone, hair color, and facial features is an essential part of the process aiming to give you the most natural results.
5. Will anyone know I’ve had scalp micro pigmentation?
No. If done correctly, people will not know you’ve had scalp micropigmentation; the results are undetectable to the naked eye. This is the reason why SMP has been growing at a rapid pace in the last 10 years.
6. Does scalp micropigmentation hurt?
Every person has a different pain threshold, but most patients report that it only feels like a minor annoyance.
7. How long will the treatment take?
SMP is done over a series of sessions – usually 3 sessions to achieve the desired result. These sessions are spaced 1-2 weeks apart, and the whole process takes about 5-8 weeks.
8. Why do I need multiple sessions?
There are a couple of reasons: First, each session takes about 1.5-3 hours, so that the patients’ discomfort could be minimized. Second, to observe how the skin reacts to the procedure, so that any problem can be corrected necessary adjustments to the needle size or pigment color could be made.
9. Will the pigment color used fade or change and are the results permanent?
This is a specially formulated pigment used for our purpose. There is no risk of color turning blue or green. Retention will vary however, as every client’s skin is different, and you will need a touch-up every 3-5 years to darken fading pigments.
10. How will I look immediately after the procedure and how long does it take to recover?
It usually depends on your skin type. There will be some redness for approximately 2-10 hours after treatment. You will not need any recovery time — just avoiding sunshine and heavy sweating for 3-4 days.
11. Will I be able to shower/exercise after the procedure?
We want the pigments to settle in, so try to avoid exercising and sweating for 3-4 days after your SMP session. However, after this period, you can shower and exercise as normal.
12. How much does scalp micropigmentation cost?
The average price range is between2000 to 3000 Euros. However, prices vary based on the level of effort and the surface area that needs to be treated. The smaller the area, the lower the price; the bigger the area, the higher the price. Each person is different, and an accurate assessment coupled with a quote will be provided during the free consultation session.
13. What is the difference between Density Fill and Hairline Restoration?
Density Fill makes the hair look a lot thicker and fuller--head is not shaved. Hairline Restoration recreates the person’s hairline (shaved cut) --head is usually shaved.
14. Is SMP a tattoo?
No. A Scalp Micro pigmentation procedure consists of using a 1-millimeter needle, depositing a specially formulated ink on the top layer of your scalp referred to as the dermis layer.
